hi all i'm looking for a new laptop for college the thing is i only got $400 to $500 to play with... :( I'm just looking for a PC that can get the job done and to put one or two game's on it. I'm just asking for ideas....PS. it would be nice to find one that can play most of the newer games out there.

Hmmm.. a $500 laptop with a higher end graphics card.. that might be a bit of a stretch. Me I've always been a fan of Dell when it comes to good cheap prebuilt systems. But for laptops I've heard Toshiba is good too.

So taking a peak at Dell, I grabbed the laptop with the most power closest to your limit, an Inspiron 15 $449 but unfortunately the graphics can only go to a Radeon HD 4330 which isn't very powerful and probably won't run most new games. Unfortunately the $500 toshiba's aren't any better.

On the flip side a bottom of the line Alienware will run you around $1,200 about the same for an entry level toshiba gaming laptop.

So it's like a chinese buffett you can pick 2 of 3 (cheap, laptop, gaming). Sorry..

Thanks for the info....i bin looking at HP laptops and the sad thing is any laptop is a step up from my old PC...P4 1.8Ghz, 2Gb of RAM, nividia 6200 256Mb video card, 2-350Gb hard drive.......the thing is around 8 years old and sadly it's showing its age..
